Personal development, what is it?

 

Personal development is a heterogeneous set of practices, belonging to various schools of thought, aimed at improving self-knowledge, enhancing talents and potentials, improving quality of life, and achieving one's aspirations and dreams.

However, personal development is not a kind of psychotherapy and results from multiple influences. Indeed, psychology and philosophy, and often dietetics and sports practice, generally form the basis of the practices of modern personal development actors; others also associate religious notions or those related to esotericism with it.

The foundations of personal development psychology are to abandon all negative ideas and reformulate them into positive thoughts; it is an optimistic and simplifying ontology associated with voluntarism.
